Build an Oasis for pollinators in Discovery Bay

Discovery Bay area is surrounded by “green zone” on three sides. However, due to the fact that Hong Kong’s wild plants are secondary forests, and their flowering periods have distinct seasonality, not all seasons have sufficient food sources. Furthermore, the original planning of the Discovery Bay development (which dates back over 20 years) did not focus on pollinator-friendly plants. Given the recent drastic changes in weather, this has posed challenges to the survival of pollinators in the Hong Kong region.

As such, Discovery Bay would be an ideal location for an Urban Oasis Project. This would effectively enhance the living environment for pollinating insects in the area, while aligning well with Discovery Bay’s concepts of environmental protection, green living, and community farming.

Building an Urban Oasis in Central Park can benefit pollinating insects within a 2-kilometer radius.

The coverage area can reach as far as the Siu Ho Wan Bus Depot and the Golf club.

You may have the opportunity to see these creatures, please observe quietly, do not disturb them, and remain your distance.
